The role of a coach is to listen, support, mirror, advise and empower – without self-interest. This support also helps clients to be accountable for their agreements, commitments and stated intentions. A balance between fierce accountability and compassion serves to bring out one’s true talents and abilities.
Some would argue that personality, communication style and industry experience are important in predicting the success of a coaching relationship, especially regarding business coaching. In Malcolm´s experience, a productive coaching relationship is built on trust, candid communication, honesty and wisdom – not guided by biases and fear. In practice, common business and life experiences shared by coach and client can constrain a relationship by reinforcing biases and narrowing perspectives on new alternatives and possibilities. Personal growth and a rewarding life happen when one recognizes, chooses and takes action based on one’s truth.
The coaching process entails one-on-one guidance to help business owners and other individuals access and act on their intuition for the benefit of their businesses and personal growth. The process also explores outdated beliefs and unproductive behavior patterns, so that a strategy can be co-created and implemented for each client to experience more rewarding personal relationships, self-love and productivity in business and life. The ultimate goal is the long-term health, personal growth and joy of the client. In that context, business decisions and life decisions often become clear quickly.
For all clients, especially business owners, an experienced outside perspective can be invaluable when facing one’s truth and judging the implications as impossible, undesirable, unfair or undeserved. The guidance of a skilled coach can help one recognize one’s own truth and make decisions according to priorities that are consistent with that truth.
Frequency and length of meetings vary as needed by each client. At the outset, a typical schedule would be to meet weekly for one hour. Meetings can take place in person or, more commonly, by telephone. Through consistent meetings in this way, a client can break or modify existing negative patterns. Additional tools available in this coaching relationship include DreamWork™ dream interpretation, energy therapy, trauma release exercises, Character Types™, and cross-consulting.. These tools also help clients to access intuitive guidance and to address blocks, trauma and outdated beliefs at a subconscious level. |
